H104 - Hospitalists - Central CT - Seeking full-time and part-time Hospitalists

Full time Hospitalist. Position is generally 5 days per week, 8 hour shifts. About 75% of the time it is day shifts, which are 7am to 3 pm, perhaps 1-2 weeks of night shifts (either 11p-7a or 4 nights of 9p-7a), and the rest are evening shifts (3p-11p).

There would be up to 12 weekends in a year. The weekends are usually 7a-7p each day  though sometimes 7a-5p. When a full timer works a weekend, they will have two days off in the following week usually either Monday and Tuesday or Thursday or Friday, depending on staffing, so it still works out to 10 shifts over two weeks.

A day shift averages 12 patients to round on plus one admission. The evenings and nights are coverage (of the 90-100 average patients on the service) and admissions (usually about 5 admissions in an eight hour shift). There are two docs on the evening shift and two on the night shift, with a PA who works 7p-7a as well. Once in a while one of the docs is filled in for by a PA  or NP on the night shift.

4 weeks vacation, 12 days sick time, one week CME, 10 days of paid hospital holidays (since we often work on some of the holidays each, they become extra vacation days to take at other times). Up to $2500 for CME money. Malpractice covered by the hospital (events occurred type policy so no tail necessary), as well as all the usual benefits you'd expect (health, dental insurance, long term disability, small life insurance policy, can buy short term disability discounted, eyeglass coverage, and two retirement plans).

The compensation is around a base of $160,000 to $165,000 annually, but there is an incentive bonus that goes up as high as 16% of the base salary. This usually averages 10-11% across the group, so the typical net compensation is actually closer to $180,000. In addition there are opportunities to make extra by taking on extra shifts (plus those extra shifts will result in increased productivity which can increase the size of the bonus).
